Naples’ climate is Mediterranean, with mild and rainy winters and hot and dry summers, but still refreshed by the sea breeze that is rarely missing on its gulf. Summer, from June to August, is hot and sunny. Generally, the air is muggy, but the breezes temper the heat. Inside the city, in the most densely populated neighborhoods, however, the heat is felt. When the scirocco blows from Africa there can be very hot days, with highs around 36/38 degrees. The rains are very rare, but some thunderstorms cannot be excluded every now and then.
This period is perfet for swimming in Naples and its nearby coasts (see Ischia, Capri, Sorrento, Amalfi(, in particular from june to mid-September.
